When Should You Seek Advice? 

Babies can become unwell quickly, and some symptoms may need earlier medical review, especially in newborns.  

You may wish to seek medical advice if your baby: 

  • Newborn JaundiceHas yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Has difficulty feeding
  • Has poor weight gain
  • Has fewer wet nappies than usual
  • Has persistent vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Has a fever
  • Is unusually sleepy, irritable or difficult to wake
  • Has redness, swelling or discharge around the umbilical cord
