Numeracy Skills

Numeracy skills are basic mathematical skills that includes the ability to reason and apply simple numerical concepts. The foundations of numeracy skills involve basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Children with difficulties in numeracy, often find themselves struggling in understanding and reasoning with simple day to day problems. A child’s mathematical competence depends on effective functioning of their number sense, visual spatial skills, language skills, concentration and memory.

In Educational therapy, we work on the following areas:

• Recognition of numbers
• Sequencing
• Understanding the relationship between numbers
• Basic arithmetic operations (+ – × ÷)
• Reasoning and problem solving skills
